Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe 1992 Playset

I've been obsessed with Antoine Predock’s Hotel Santa Fe at Disneyland Paris for a long time, so to celebrate its design, I created a tribute in Blender.

The Pueblo Revival buildings are divided into four "trails" to encourage exploration. Before we check in and head to the trails, here's an overview of the hotel and its drive-in inspired entrance

Trail of Artefacts

Featuring the iconic "saguaro in bondage" cactus, a spiral concrete snake, a meteor and buried cars shipped from Albuquerque.

Trail of Water

This path follows a stream which flows down an aqueduct and into agricultural-style irrigation channels. The start of the trail is marked by a dramatic geyser fountain.

Trail of Infinite Space

This path marks the centre of the hotel; a yellow lane marker leads you from the entrance to a UFO at the back. Forced perspective gives the impression of driving down an endless highway

Trail of Monuments

This trail is marked by a neon roadrunner, and abstract concrete towers represent precarious toppling rocks

Trail of Legends

This path represents classic Western tropes. Starting with a smoking volcano there are five brightly coloured buildings:

  • Black/White: Good vs Evil standoff

  • Silver: Coins/Bank

  • Gold: Gold Rush

  • Grey: Jailhouse

  • Red: Bordello
